Dedicated to Friederike Caroline Elise Michaelis Recknagel, who is buried in this cemetery south of Round Top, Texas. Friederike was born at Nassau Farm near Round Top in 1860. She grew up and was educated in this community, but became renowed for her striking photographs of the area and people. Though it is not known how she was trained in photography, by the 1890s she had become quite good. Many of her photos show old buildings in Round Top that are no longer there, but some still exist. Her pictures also included many shots of her family, towns people and immigrants in the area. Copies of her pictures can be found at the Winedale Historical Center. She moved to Burton in 1917, and later to Houston where she died in 1956. She is buried beside her husband at the Florida Chapel Cemetery.

Directions:
From Round Top, go south on Hwy 237 to Florida Chapel Rd. Turn left and cemetery will be on the left. Turn in the 3r entry roadbed (5th entry has cemetery name over archway). Go straight back until reach a cedar tree along road on right. Her grave is just past this tree.

To the Letterbox:
From her grave, continue up the roadbed to the end, turn left along fence and go to 1st tree along fence that is on this side of the fence. Turn left and go to white building. Just before building walk right to iron fence area with tombstone for Heller. Go just left of this between this iron gated aread and another to a large crepe mertle tree on left. Go to far side, looking back toward white house and iron fend on your right. Box is in base of the crepe, coverved with stuff, about 1 foot off ground.
