My name is Frankie and I live in Arizona. Several times a year, my stinky brother, Willie, and I get to spend time at my Grandma's house in Lakewood. We love visiting there and to explore her backyard known as the Metroparks.

This visit I decided to go out exploring on my own, since my bratty brother was really bothering me today. I headed down the path past the sign that said Animal Shelter. It wasn't long until I came upon some kind of exercise bench. The sign said "Body Curl". As I stood reading the directions, I heard a sound behind me!

I spun around quickly, and stood with my back to the sign and surveyed my surroundings. To my right, at about 330 degrees, I spied an old hollow tree stump. Reluctantly, I stepped through the underbrush and peered inside. To my relief, it wasn't anything to fear, but rather something I could enjoy when I got hungry.

I continued on the main path for another short distance, and stopped and stared in amazement at the large concrete bridge looming overhead. I could almost feel the vibrations of the cars that were traveling over it.

Just past the bridge, I noticed a dirt path to the left of the main trail. Curiosity getting the better of me, I chose this path instead of the main path. Even when I came to a fork in the path, I still chose the path to the left along the water.

After following this path for another short distance, I came to large dirt clearing and a tree growing(not fallen) at an distinct angle across the path from right to left. It was here that I heard a low growling noise. I stood at the base of the tree and listened. Somewhere around 260 degrees I heard the noise again! Lions? Tigers? Bears? Oh My! I saw a fallen tree pointing away from me. Thinking this is where the noise was coming from, I cautiously approached it, and walked along it to about the midpoint. I thought I saw something move, and I looked inside the hole and found the source of the noise. He looked so harmless staring back at me that I invited him to share my journey.

I stayed on this dirt path until I reached yet another fork in the path. This time I stayed to the right, but when it split again, I traveled along the water to the left. As I walked along, I tripped over a log embedded in the mud in the path. It was pointing me forward. As I caught myself, I thought I glimpsed something red and white in a tree. I stood at the end of the log and followed my line of sight to about 270 degrees. Sure enough, on the south side of the big leaning tree was the thing that caught my eye. It was half hidden in the bark of the tree. WOW! it seemed a bit out of season, but I thought I should save it for that special holiday, so took it with me.

Again, I followed the path. It split and traveled around a big tree in the middle of both paths. I chose to go left around this tree. As I did, I felt something brush (or did something grab) my leg??? Oh, it was just a fallen tree with roots that looked like a hand. Just past that tree, I noticed a tree that was bent over, and splitting apart. I saw a flash of color in the hole of that tree. I carefully removed a piece of fabric and noticed it was a piece of clothing! I wondered who it belonged to, and if they were on this same path. I threw the garment over my shoulder and continued down the path. Perhaps I would come across the owner of such a fine garment!

The path split once again, and I proceeded on that path which led me back to the main trail. I came upon the main trail at a sign that said, "Achilles Stretch". Following the trail to the left, the paved trail curved to the right. I continued to the left, onto the grass until I came to another foot path to the left.

Walking down this path, I went only a few paces until on the left, I spotted a cement block with some sort of pyramid shaped grating on it. Then I smelled it! P-U !!!! It was a strong pungent smell like a sewer? No, it smelled like....um.....well....pachyderms! To the right of the path, directly across from the grating, I walked over to the two vine covered trees and discovered the source of the odor. There he was trying to be inconspicuous and looked at me shyly.

"What the heck....you can come along with me!" I said to my new found friend! We traveled back to the paved trail and started over the bridge. As I got halfway across, I stopped and watched the gentle flow of the river. I cheered on the local fisherman, and took in the serenity of the area.

This time I heard a growl again, only this time it was my stomach! I glanced at my watch and realized that Grandma probably had lunch waiting for me!

I hurried back to Grandma's, but I didn't want that pesky Willie seeing all my cool things I found in the Metroparks. We sneaked in the side door, and crept silently up the stairs into my guestroom. I stuffed all my treasures into Grandma's closet.
