.Drive into the town of Mellen which is located on Highway 13 23 miles from Ashland, Wisconsin

.Start at the fire hydrant by the Mellen Public School at door A. (if you have a car you can park here.)

.Go South 20 casual steps.

.Go East until you hit the VFW.

.After that go on the sidewalk so you don’t get hit by cars and walk East until you get to a stop sign.

.Look both ways before crossing the street and go down straight down a trail and be careful when you climb over the guard rail, you should hit the railroad tracks.

.Cross the railroad tracks

.Follow another trail and our letter box Zen is to your right.

Mellen is a small quiet town with a lot of friendly people. It was founded by William Solon Mellen in 1886 for the granite and that is what we are known for. The population in 1979 was 1,090 and now it is around 775. We are in 8th grade and doing this for our scientific reasoning class. We wish you luck and hope have a great adventure!
