4 Little Owls used to be here,
but someone stole them away, I fear.
Woodsy the Owl soon followed suit,
To remind all you hikers, "Do Not Pollute".
In Groton State Forest on Lanesboro Road
The Owl's Head Vista is his abode.
Climb to the peak, the path matters not.
Till you come to the old stone hut at the top.
Stand in the doorway, face back where you came,
Look to the right for a path with no name.
The right most path you must follow until,
You find a boulder the size of a hill.
Over or around, its up to you,
But past it you must get, to find the next clue.
A stone with a red puddle if there has been rain.
If the weather is dry, you'll still see the stain.
Stand at this spot and to your left you will find
a hidden stone path with a dead pine behind.
Fourteen paces to the dead pine then,
Behind, under sticks, you will find our owl friend.
Be very careful, there be muggles around
Stamp in and out and return to the ground.
Cover it well with sticks and some leaves.
So it will be there for others to seek.
One thing more before we skoot,
In his words, "Give a Hoot, Don't Pollute"
but someone stole them away, I fear.
