During World War II the United States gained a huge advantage in fighting the German and Japanese forces when it decipered their codes. The Japanese never broke the American code because it was largely spoken by Navajo code talkers who used their native language. To find Shiprock, you'll need to do a little code talking.

1 = t'aala'i
2 = naaki
3 = taa'
4 = dii'
5 = ashdla'
6 = hastaa
7 = tsosts'id
8 = tseabii
9 = nahast'ei

Take Highway hastaa dii' west out of the nortwestern New Mexican town of Shiprock. Shiprock looms to the south. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shiprock.
Halfway between mile markers tsoists'id and hastaa on the south side of the road is a dirt pull off that should get you safely off the road. There is a cattleguard and a passage through the fence there. Fence post number dii' to the west of the cattleguard has a large white rock under it and a spor by it. Keep your air-conditioner running as you bring everything in to stamp in.

We were visiting from out of state and planned to leave this near Shiprock, but couldn't manage to accomplish that, so left it in Farmington. Big thanks to Wronghat, who kindly relocated it to a spot closer to Shiprock.
