Tuckerwood Conservation Area

From Bridgewater Center (junction of routes 18, 28 and 104), go north on Route 18 for 1 mile. Turn right onto High Street. Continue straight through the Hayward Street intersection, for a total of 1.2 miles. Look for a gravel right-of-way on the right, posted with a small sign reading Tuckerwood Conservation Area. (If you see the sign for CN Smith farm on the left, you've gone too far!)

Bug spray is recommended in the summer.

Follow the green trail markers on the trees. Go right at the first fork in the trail. At the high tension wires go right. Look for a trail on the left halfway in between pole #50 and pole #49 (49 is after 50). Follow the white trail markers to a clearing near the river with 3 benches. Sometimes you can see herons wading in the river. Take the trail that follows the river to the left. After crossing a large log in the path, look for a twin tree on the left. The box is hidden in the base.

You may return the way you came or continue on the trail in a loop back to the high tension wires. Look for little brown wood frogs in the low areas.
