The Phantom Creek/Signal Butte trails are popular as OHV routes. Please watch out for OHV vehicles. This particular box is on the main trail and is open to all vehicles, but I reccommend a high clearance vehicle. This trail will offer views of pikes peak and signal butte.

To find the box:

Coming from Colorado Springs, take HWY24 west towards Divide. Once in Divide, take a right at the stop light by the little grocery store, onto CR51. (The last time I went through this stop light the 1 was missing on the CR51, so it looks like CR5. Another indicator is that if you go left it is South HWY67). Follow CR51 .5mi to the fork in the road and go left. You will soon pass a fire station on your left to know you are headed the right direction. Follow this road, which is still CR51, for 2.7Mi, and turn right onto CR51. If you keep going straight you will no longer be on CR51, and have gone the wrong way. Follow CR51 after you turn right for 3.5mi. After 3.5mi the road will turn to dirt. Follow the dirt for another 1.2miles. On the right there will be trail 363 and 363E. Take trail 363 which is more to the left. Follow 363 for 3.6mi, there will be a sort of fork in the road and stay left. along hte way you will pass a large open area that is like a parking area for people using OHVs, make sure you stay straight on 363 past the parking lot. Follow 363 for another 3 miles and turn right off the road at the big boulders. If you feel like it you may walk to the top of the boulders and enjoy the fantastic view of pikes peak.

The letter box is hidden to the left of the boulders. Once at the left of the boulders, walk about 15 paces down to two small twin pine trees and Phantom Creek is hidden under the rock to the right of the pine trees.

NOTES:

-There is no ink pad, please bring your own
-There is one hand carved stamp (my first attempt at carving my own stamp, please excuse the elementary design)
-I have left a pencil in the box as well, please return it. Enjoy! This is a beautiful area.
