This box was placed for a camp out that we did with our Cub Scout Pack. The boys got to use letterboxing to help get their Hiking and Map & Compass belt loops.
Enter the Mt. Misery part of the Pachaug State Forest (Maps for the park are located at the ranger station on the way in, just be sure to get the Mt. Misery map, not the Green Falls map) and proceed to the CCC Youth Camp area. There is a parking area on the right hand side.
Walk to the flag pole, then look for "2 Johns". From the front of them take a reading of 130 degrees and take that path. At the first intersection take a left. When you get to the signs, take the path at 40 degrees. Continue on this trail for a while enjoying the sights and sounds of the forest. After about a mile you will come to the Stone Hill Rd. intersection. Go left until you reach a gate. Stand in the middle of the gate and take a bearing of 280 degrees. Your prize is under a boulder and behind a large piece of bark.
After stamping, go left onto the “main path” and return to your car.
