This is our first letterbox plant, so we hope everyone enjoys it. We love this location, and wanted to share a little piece of beautiful Vermont. From Ludlow, take 103N about 2 miles. Pass the intersection with Rte. 100, and look for a road that angles off to the right past a blue Masonic building. (Opposite on the left is the entrance to Jackson Gore ski resort.) This is Buttermilk Falls Rd. Drive about 1 mile on this road until you see the Okemo State Forest sign on the right. Park near the sign. To the right, in the woods, there is a Buttermilk Falls information sign. From this sign, head towards the water, and look for a path to the right next to a beech tree with W-5 carved on it. (I didn't carve it - it was already there!) Walk a little way, until a sharp left leads towards a small rocky beach. Find the path along the stream, keeping the water on your left. Walk a short way. You will see a pile of rocks (an old campfire) on the left, then a stand of 3 beech trees on the right with W-4 carved on the middle one (again - I didn't carve it!), then a broken birch in the middle of the path. Step across a fallen tree and look immediately to your left. You will see a small pile of rocks between two trees, and there's your surprise! Be sure to explore the rest of the falls area - there are 3 waterfalls, and several large pools. If you drive to the end of the road, you can walk across an old bridge and get a good look at the upper falls. If it's a hot day, bring a swimsuit. But beware - some people don't. Surprise!
