Reported Missing after Hurricane Isabel. We'll try to restore it next time we're in Virginia.

This box is hidden along Four Mile Run in the W&OD Railroad Park off Columbia Pike in South Arlington.

I walked this path almost every day while I was pregnant with the Princess. After she was born, we came here to walk together near the stream, though not as often as we would have liked. It’s an especially gorgeous walk in the fall – listen to the stream and breathe in all that crisp air.

In celebration of the Princess’s first birthday, we planted this box. She has been letterboxing all over northern Virginia, so maybe some of you devoted letterboxers will recognize her sea-and-sun stamp. This box is also quite near the Glencarlyn Dog Park so go get that stamp then find ours with the clues below. Be sure to enjoy the walk by Four Mile Run too!

Happy adventuring!

Go east on Columbia Pike from George Mason or Glebe Road. After you cross Four Mile Run, turn right at the next street, Arlington Mill Drive. Go right at the fork. When you see the trail entrance on your right, U-turn to park on the street.

Enter the park and go left on the trail. Cross Four Mile Run – look upstream for a pretty view. Stay on the path without taking any of the exits to the trail uphill. You may hear a dog obedience class across the stream as you pass the Glencarlyn Dog Park.

When you see the sign for Long Branch Nature Center, turn left. Don’t go across the bridge. Instead, go right on a dirt path next to the stream, Soon you’ll see a log across the path. Look to your right. You’ll see some stumpy logs leaning against a tree covered by a large fuzzy vine. The Princess Marisol box is under those logs.

From Glencarlyn Dog Park: Find the bridge that crosses Four Mile Run. Cross the bridge and go left on the dirt path. Continue clues as above.

Tip: When leaving in your car, when you get to the fork in the road, go right, though a parking lot. At the stop sign, turn left. This takes you back to Columbia Pike at a light where it’s easier and safer to make the left turn.
