Turkey Trot Barbecue

These letterboxes do not have ink but blue, red, and black are suggeted or markers.

This starting point is different from other starting points for the Turkey Trot Trail. It’s on RT 108 under the power lines off the road on a gravel area enough for 4 cars or so. Enter the trail not on the kiosk sign side but past the gate and take the immediate left and enter the woods where you will see the white blazes for the trail. Walk the trail between the road on your left and a river bed on your right till you will see a double blazed tree. Follow the white arrow and go straight till you see two large rock croppings on your left. In front off the second on your right is a tree stump. From here walk 35 paces forward on the trail and to your right will be a gnarly old three sister tree stump in the woods. Here you will find your invitation.

Continue on the trail, pass over a wooden bridge and pass a house on the left (usually with a barking dog). Go up an incline, down into a valley and back up till you reach the rocky summit. Stand on the flat rock on the trail and look right for three flat top boulders. The rusted grill is under the farthest back boulder on the right covered by a small rock.

To get back continue down the hill to the power lines, take the rocky trail on your right to a “T”, and take another right onto the blue trail back up to 108.
