Update on clues:

Clues are still correct except references to "road" -- one of the gravel roads was covered with grass, so you could easily walk right over it. Look for a swath of grass with no gravestones.

Maps can be found in a box across from the office at the main entrance. Please respect mourners and visitors while in the cemetery.

Start at the flagpole, facing north.
Follow the road at approximately 200 degrees.

Walk past the small gravel road on the right, and pass the four jewels on the left.

After the first curve in the road you will walk past (on the left) the grave of the composer of the College anthem "Old Nassau", who departed this life in 1915 at the age of 81.

Continue along the road and stop just prior to reaching the small gravel road on the left.

Locate, on the left, the final resting place of the parents of a famous African American concert singer and actor. Hint: a nearby Princeton street is named after him.

From his grave, take a bearing of 220 degrees and walk a short distance to the grave of this mother and two of her five children. They perished when the Hudson River steamboat Henry Clay caught fire and ran ashore on July 25, 1852.

Step back onto the road and head west.

Walk past the graves of Delong, Bergen and the Founder of Tulane University.
Continue on the road going almost to the end, into the heart of the "old graveyard".

Stop at Clark on the left and walk in one stone to the left.

You find yourself at the grave of one of Princeton Borough's most highly respected mayors. She was a person known for her "passion for beauty and justice".

From this grave take a bearing of 40 degrees.

Walk across the road and locate the grave of this West Point graduate. He served the Union army and later presided at the trial of President Lincoln's assassins.

From his grave, take a bearing of 354 degrees and walk a short distance to the grave of the man elected President in 1885 and 1893. To the left is the grave of his daughter, Ruth, who is the namesake of the Baby Ruth candy bar.

From the President's gravesite, take a bearing of 40 degrees and walk out to the road.

Notice the unusual grave marker supported by six pillars and placed in 1904.
Follow the road at roughly 80 degrees, walk a short distance and stop at the pine tree.

On the left is the grave of a Polish patriot who escaped to the US in 1848 and later became a Union general. His grave marker is carved with two crossed sabers covered by a flower.

From his grave, travel north, passing on the left, Neher, Skirm and Trowbridge out to the road.
Once on the road, travel at 60 degrees, stopping at the Hahn family plot.

Enter the family plot and locate the grave of the 75 year old "Jr" who is best known for the epitaph on his flat headstone which reads "I told you I was sick".

From his grave site continue at approximately 350 degrees.

Walk past the Virgin Mary, Gregory and stop at Trotman (John and Agnes).

Take a bearing of 70 degrees and walk in three stones.

Locate the grave of this popular African American jazz musician and composer. Note the unusual stone marking his grave site which was erected by fellow musicians. Hint: it was his most famous composition.

Continue at 70 degrees out to the road.

At 95 degrees spot the three heavenly ladies, walk over and pay your respects to the "always generous and caring".

Follow the road at 70 degrees.

Pass Hollobow and Leaf on the left. Continue on this road.

At the intersection, stop and take the road at 160 degrees.

Walk towards the circle, stop and look towards the "South".

Spot the pillars at 116 degrees.

Look past South and head to Read.

From Read, take a bearing of 80 degrees and walk towards Brook (if Harold was 65 when he departed you're in the right place).

Walk south along the fence a short distance.

Check behind the stone of Caroline and Salvatore for the box you seek.
