Weird Science LbNA #54271 (ARCHIVED)

As a teenager in the '80s, John Hughes was the penultimate director of my time. In fact, he filmed many of his movies in the Chicago suburb where I spent five years of my youth, inspiring me to work in the film industry. When he was filming Weird Science, we ended up at the mall when they shot the "Slushie Scene." It was so much fun to watch, because in the movie, it looked like only two slushies were poured over their heads, when in fact there were two buckets' worth of slushies poured on their heads! Since John Hughes passed away last year, and I'm celebrating my 40th year of life this year, I decided that my very first letterboxing planting experience would be to honor him with a series of stamps dedicated to his works that I witnessed being filmed and/or had to do with my high school -- Glenbrook North.
