*****Unfortunately the squirrel tree fell on the letterbox during a storm! It's out of commission for now, until I can rework the clues. Sorry.*****

Thanks for visiting Huntley Meadows Park.
Please stop in at the Visitor Center to pick up a map and a calendar of events.
Huntley is the largest Fairfax County park (1428 acres) and features a large freshwater wetland.
The hike is easy and the wildlife-watching is extraordinary.
Make sure you bring binoculars.
This letterbox was planted on March 10, 2003 by the 9-12 year old participants in the letterboxing program.

Go out to the wetland using the Heron Trail.
Follow the boardwalk around toward the tower.
After enjoying the view from the tower, go back the way you came.
Take the first trail on the right.
Follow the trail until you get to the number 12 at the crossroads.
Stand in the center of the crossroads and take the trail at 170 degrees.
Follow that trail past the dead white oaks and young sweetgums.
Travel over the small boardwalk at #9.
Take the next trail on the left guarded by the tree with a hole that looks like a dinosaur’s head.
At the sign for the informal trail, take a bearing of 170 degrees and walk about 20 steps.
The box will be in the SQUIRREL TREE.
Please look before reaching in!
