For this letterboxing adventure you are traveling to Cong, Ireland in County Galway and thence via the Cong Woods to the Pigeon Hole. In Cong you can find maps with the Pigeon Hole included. If you decide to walk down the Pigeon Hole be aware it could be dangerous for small children.

Head up to Cong, find Cong Abbey and walk through to the other side. There’s a map on a board which includes the Pigeon Hole. If you can find the Cong paper map with it even better. Keep walking by the Monks’ Fishing House and cross the bridge over the Cong River. Turn right and walk. At the fork turn left. Pass a bench. When you reach the railing going up you go up too. At the top of the railing turn left and walk about 50 yards and at the next fork go right. Pass through the tunnel and keep walking passing another bench on the left. Reach a metal gate and go around it. Turn right and go straight down and find the Pigeon Hole with the entrance between the chain link fence.
Face the entrance down to the Pigeon Hole. At the top of the entrance make a 90 degree turn to your right. Take about 17 steps and there should be a large tree to your left. Take another 4 steps having turned another 90 degrees to your left. Find the Celtic Jackdaw at the base of the tree under some duff on the left or NW side.
Please close everything up tight as this is a wet spot in a wet country! Thanks for coming!
