This letterbox is located in Great Brook Farm in Carlisle, MASS.
Park in the lot across from the farm. There is a $2.00 parking fee.


Follow the signs for icecream. Keep the pond on your right.
You will come to a 4-way intersection. Take a left onto a dirt path.
This is Lantern loop.
Stay on this dirt path for a short distance and then look for a post with a #4 on it. You will take a RIGHT onto LITCHFIELD LOOP.

Follow this trail for a short distance to a “Y” intersection (approx 100 steps) and go RIGHT onto a gravel trail. You have gone to far if you come to a solid wooden fence.
You will stay on this trail for awhile going over several hills.
Eventually you will come out to a large clearing/field. STAY RIGHT and follow the trail. Pass the murky swamp on your RIGHT. A short distance ahead look LEFT after passing the swamp and you will see a sign for TRAIL #6. Go LEFT into the woods. You will see a small stone wall. Take the STONE ROW trail up and into the woods.

This trail has numerous out croppings of rocks. You will walk along this trail as it winds through a small valley. Check out the huge rocks that look like they are going to fall and continue up the trail.

You will begin a slow SHARP RIGHT turn up the hill and climb out of the “valley”. As you begin to get to the crest of the hill you are climbing, look to the LEFT. On a rock formation you will see a fairly large shelter built of rock and fallen trees. With your back towards the fort look at the rocks directly across from where you are standing.
Your Brownies are hiding under one of them.

Continue on the same trail with cottage on your LEFT and began to bear LEFT up and a steep rocky hill. At the top take a RIGHT and continue up and follow trail. Follow the trail down and keep the other big rock fort on your RIGHT. At MARKER 32 take a RIGHT.And head down the hill.
As you approach a small stone wall go off the trail to your RIGHT to the BIG ROCK (with stone wall attached) and you will find your DAISY TROOP waiting underneath the big rock.

Go back to the trail and continue on trail out of the woods to the field. Follow the dirt path back the swamp and field you entered in the beginning.
Back track from there and go get some icecream. The girl scouts will be waiting.
