The Singers at Bellville Concordia:
The Singing society was organized in the home of Fritz Schlecht, at Piney (3.5 mi. E), 1860. Members included: Fritz Brandes, Heinrich and Gustav Koch, Joseph and Theo Menke, Herman Mueller, Fritz Schultz, and Emil Koch, director. Hall (built 1877), wrecked by 1900 storm, was moved here, and rebuilt the same year. The name Bellville Concordia was adopted in 1938. The land was given by Henry Strauss.
Clues:
Enter Bellville from HWY 36S, which becomes Main St. To find the singers practicing, you must make a right on S. Holland, a left on Austin, right on Matthews, a left on O’Bryant, and a right on Tesch. Follow Tesch St. until you hear the voice of singers. Park in front of the oak tree growing in the middle of the parking lot. Facing the water faucet, listen for the singers practicing their tunes in the right root crevice of the oak.
