Wellesley Free Library Fells Branch

Sorry - this letterbox has blown away!!!

We will replace it in the near future - check back in a bit.

The Fells Branch of the Wellesley Free Library is located at 308 Weston Road, Wellesley, MA 02482. Dating back to 1854, the Fells Branch is the oldest public building in Wellesley. If you’re lucky enough to visit while the library is open, take a peek inside and check out the original slate chalkboards of this former one room schoolhouse.

The letterbox is located outside, but if you’d like to visit the library during your letterbox visit, the hours and directions are listed at: http://www.mln.lib.ma.us/info/wellesley.htm#2.

To find this letterbox, you need to answer the following clues to spell out its’ hiding place. The final answer consists of a seven letter word, followed by a three letter word.

___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___

___ ___ ___

Find a seat on one of the garden benches in front of the library. You should be able to answer all the clues from this vantage point.

1st word, 1st letter:
Think of a friend of Ron & Hermione.
Take the first letter of his last name.

1st word, 2nd letter:
Look around for “1858”.
Starting from the left, take the 3rd letter.

1st word, 3rd letter:
Think of a feline with a chapeau (hint: think of Dr. Seuss)
Take the second to the last letter from the name of this famous character.

1st word, 4th letter:
What kind of library is this one? (hint: it’s also the name for part of a tree)
Take the 4th letter of this word.

1st word, 5th letter:
I can be the beginning of a title, or the end of an animal.
Take the first letter of either of these words.

1st word, 6th letter:
Find something red and white, between two somethings blue
Find the word written on the side, take the 1st letter of this word.

1st word, 7th letter:
__ __ __, __ __ __, __ __ __, your boat!
Take the first letter,of this rocking nursery rhyme.

2nd word, 1st letter:
Paper, hard cover, audio, even “e”. We’re all the same. What are we?
Take the first letter of the answer.

2nd word, 2nd letter:
The middle number of the street address is also a letter.
It’s also the middle letter of this word.

2nd word, 3rd letter:
Aargh! This marks the spot!

Assemble all the letters. The letterbox is hidden underneath one of these. As always be careful removing, stamping, and replacing!
