At the Revolutionary War redoubt that was the troop staging area for the invasion of Aquidneck Island and Newport and the eventual Battle of Rhode Island, follow the north loop of the Red Trail to the scenic location where a LONG cedar log bridge crosses the brook. Near the south end of that bridge is a massive two-trunked tree that grew... a little strangely.

Find the bearing from the landlubbing trunk to the seafaring trunk. Round that bearing to the nearest square number (note: it is an even number) and divide by 2. Backtrack along the north loop of the Red Trail until you find a tree that has that many trail markers.

From that tree, take the trail heading S-SW to a fallen log. "Walk the plank" to the "bowsprit" tree. From that tree, sight ~150° uphill to a puddingstone. From its partner, sight 70° to another large rock. Southeast side, between the roots of a deadfall, under debris, rock, debris.

Please hide very well, and remember to log your find on AQ by following the link provided. Thanks!
