Bethlehem Farm is located on Clayton Rd, between Pence Springs and Alderson. Bethlehem Farm invites volunteers throughout the year to live the Gospel cornerstones of prayer, simplicity, community, and service. This letterbox was placed in tribute to the Farm.

Coming from I-64 E:
On I-64 East, take exit 139, marked 'Sandstone-Hinton Rt. 20'.
Turn LEFT onto WV-20 S towards Sandstone and Hinton, (passing through Sandstone and Brooks). Notice the amazing New River.
Stay on Rt 20 south through Hinton and across bridge over New River. Rt 20 will take a left turn at the end of the bridge and join up with Rt 3. About a mile up the other side of the river, turn left on Rt 3 East across bridge over New River again.
Go towards Talcott, Pence Springs, and Alderson. After about 5 miles, it becomes WV-3 E and WV-12 N (There will be a left across a blue, steel-frame bridge when you join up with 12 north).
About 7.5 miles after the blue frame bridge (past Hilldale and Talcott), you will see the sign “Pence Springs, Unincorporated town.” Slow down and take the first left onto Clayton Rd. (Reset trip odometer—your destination is 3 miles up the Clayton Road—it will feel much longer.)
Continue on Clayton Rd. When the road makes a V at the top of the hill, go to the right staying on Clayton Rd. Pass big log home on left and “Hypesville, population friendly” on left.
You will see a BETHLEHEM FARM sign at the foot of the driveway.

From I-64 W:
Take the WV-12 exit- EXIT 161- toward ALTA turning left on WV-12 S
After about 12 miles on WV-12, you will enter the town of Alderson, stay on 12 through Alderson
Less than one mile after leaving Alderson, you will enter Summers County (pass by Big Branch Rd, Eagle Branch Rd, and Falling Branch Rd)
Less than one mile after entering Summers County, you will turn right on CLAYTON RD (Clayton Rd is less than 100 yards past Falling Branch and is hidden behind a cliff, so let off the gas once you pass Falling Branch Rd)
Follow Clayton Rd for about 4.3 miles until you see the sign for Bethlehem Farm on the left at the foot of our gravel driveway. [On Clayton Rd, you will pass Griffith’s Ck Rd (bearing left at the fork), go up a long, windy hill, cross a long straightaway (past Top of the Hill Farm, Way Back Farm and the Lester Farm,) head back down hill past Pine Grove Farm, bearing left at the fork, and past a sign for Clayton Baptist Church before coming to your destination. The Bethlehem Farm sign is ½ mile past the sign for the Clayton Baptist Church.

Across from the driveway, there is a gravel pull off where you can park.

Clues:

Approach the red and white Bethlehem Farm sign. Facing the sign, while still standing on the driveway, take three side steps to the right. You should then be standing in front of a large rock, the with another rock, forms an upside down and wide "V". Under this "V", you should find the letterbox water bottle under some leaves.

2021 update: the red and white sign is no longer there. If you take 3 sidesteps from the black and white sign, walk forward until you reach a large ship-like rock on your right and a rhododendron shrub on your left, you're in the right spot. Search under the rocks right in front of you.

Please replace the letterbox where you found it, concealing it with leaves.
