This letterbox was placed by Knickers and LifeWorks! On a trip to Kansas City for a special birthday celebration we decided to collaborate on this letterbox in a location that is dear to our hearts.

The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art is located three blocks northeast of the Country Club Plaza shopping district. http://www.countryclubplaza.com/ Be sure to check out this unique architectural and fountain-filled marvelous area!

The Nelson is recognized internationally as containing one of the most outstanding art collections in the United States. It is highly recommended that you enjoy a leisurely tour of the museum itself while you are here!
The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art

These “Birds of a Feather” refer to a different kind of “birdie” that you will see while you are here.
Begin on the front steps of the museum overlooking the sweeping lawn towards Volker fountain and gazing down across where the giants play badminton.

Head down one level to the terrace where Rodin’s famous statue sits. Turn west and travel around the circle of green and take the stairs leading down to the sculpture garden.

To your right is the totem in its new location. The Kansas City Sculpture Park is a 22-acre oasis of park land in the middle of this urban setting.

Take the walkway almost to the street where you overlook the site of Shakespeare in the Park. Take a moment to look at the map you’ll find there of the sculpture park.
To your right will be a stone wall. Walk 10 paces from the end of the stone wall on the east side of the wall in front of the totem pole. You will find a loose light colored stone half way up the wall and behind this stone is the Birds of a Feather letterbox.

Please use discretion when finding the box since this is a very public place and take great care in replacing the letterbox and the stone so it remains hidden and secure.

Please Note: Specific permission for letterboxing has been neither requested of nor granted by the area administrators, so discretion is appreciated.
