Slumbering Turtles Box

Traveling south on Rt 18 pass through Abington – Whitman pass through the traffic lights where there is a Walgreens and Wendy’s on the right and a CVS pharmacy on the left about one mile further pass Peaceful Meadows Ice-cream on the right (a great place for ice cream I might add) go to the next traffic light about 1-1/2 miles there is a small strip plaza on the left a Sullivan Tires on the Left across the intersection. Turn right onto Highland St. Travel to the end of Highland St about 1 ½ miles and turn right. Cross over a small bridge (Beaver Brook) you will see turn offs on your right and there is Beaver Pond. Park about in the middle of the turn out a bit before the fire hydrant.

Traveling North on 18 pass through the traffic lights in center of E Bridgewater, a large intersection with 6 streets converging, continue on Rt 18, after passing through the intersection Bridgewater Savings Bank will be on your left. About 2 miles to the next traffic light intersection there will be a Sullivan Tires on your right. Turn left onto Highland St Go to the end of Highland St about 1 ½ miles and turn right. Cross over a small bridge (Beaver Brook) you will see turn offs on your right and there is Beaver Pond. Park about in the middle of the turn out a bit before the fire hydrant.

This a former sight of a saw and box mill. You will find the marker there near the resting bench.

When you get out of the car walk down a small path that connects to the main path around the pond. If you go to the right you will find a bench to sit and rest and admire the pond. Look for slumbering turtles along the bank or on rocks or logs on a sunny day. To find the box walk to your left along the path. through the tall pines a short distance until you see a three trunk maple tree on your left. Look between the trunks and you will find the box buried in the leaves.

This is an easy box to find but it is a very pretty spot and not far to an excellent ice cream store, Peaceful Meadows, have fun. Good for kids, placed by my Grandchildren.

I'M SORRY THIS LETTER BOX IS MISSING. i AM WORKING ON REPLACING IT i AM SORRY FOR THE INCONVENIENCE. I KNOW IT IS SAD TO TRY TO FIND ONE ONLY TO FIND IT IS NOT THERE. WILL DO MY BEST TO GET A NEW ONE AT THAT SAME SITE BUT BETTER HIDEING PLACE AND WILL THEN UPDATE THE DIRECTIONS.
