Letterboxing is a fun way to explore trees in the bean family at the Arboretum. Follow these directions to find the hidden stamp!
Start at the Arnold Arboretum, Hunnewell Visitor Center, 125 Arborway, Jamaica Plain:
• Follow Meadow Road away from the Visitor Center.
• After passing the cork trees on the right, start following the sidewalk that runs parallel to Meadow Road.
• When the sidewalk forks, stay to the left, continuing to parallel the road.
• On the right, find the tree with a white “cell phone tour” tag and a trunk label that says “Kentucky Coffee Tree” (stop #12 on our cell phone tour).
• Turn right 90 degrees and walk ahead 20 paces (into the grass) and find a second Kentucky Coffee tree.
• Again, turn right 90 degrees and walk ahead 13 paces. The letterbox is hidden under the plants growing at the base of this tree. BE CAREFUL!
