*Update* As of July 2013, it seems the box is missing according to some who have looked for it. We are headed back to Ft. Lauderdale this week from TX. I'll check it out. :(

My husband and I were in Ft. Lauderdale for a long weekend celebrating our 5th wedding anniversary; we always celebrate by going scuba diving…thus, the “Diving Five”!!

There are lots of boxes to be found in the area, but the few that I searched for were SO hard (guarded by hundreds of giant spiders!!), that I decided to make this one super-easy!

To find this box, you’ll have to visit the Bonnet House at 900 North Birch Road.

Built in 1920 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Bonnet House Museum & Gardens is a 35 acre subtropical estate and historic house museum.

The Main House is filled with a collection of art and the personal treasures of the Birch/Bartlett families. The surrounding grounds of the estate range from a mangrove swamp to a coastal hammock, providing habitat for a variety of fish, monkeys and other wildlife. (bonnethouse.org)

Now, to actually tour the house and grounds, it costs $20.00 at the time I placed the box. So, for those who are saving up for a new Speedball, I decided it would be best to avoid this charge.

To find the box, simply park at the main gate (we were greeted by a Brazilian Squirrel Monkey!). There is a blue sign to the right of the gate. Behind the sign are two palm trees. The left tree is lined up with the right side of the blue sign. Between the sign and palm is the box!

I placed the box before visiting hours, so it wasn’t busy at all, but I imagine it may be a high-traffic zone when the Bonnet House is open to the public.

Check the website for tons of information (including hours, fees, and history) and wonderful pictures – you might just decide it’s worth the $20!

I live far away from this box, so any and all updates would be greatly appreciated!!!!
