This past Mother's Day my husband and children bought me my very first letterbox carving set. I, of course, let them try it out, and here are their first carves. Hoops and YoYo were on a very silly singing card they gave me. Enjoy!
On 138 just east of the intersection with 201 is a dirt pulloff for trailhead parking. Park here. Look to your right to see the blue blaze trail.
Note: There is only one log book for this series.
Hoops: Find the very first cedar with a blue blaze on it in front of the green gate to the trail. Look behind this tree and under a rock or two.
YoYo: Enter the trail and walk about 20 minutes if you're fast or 30 if you're slower until the trail makes a hard right. You will come to a stone wall at the base of a rock hill. Find the large log (you may have stepped over is already) and count 24 steps until you come to where the wall has fallen down a bit. Go over the wall to a very mossy rock, look behind it.
Also further along this trail is Maggie's Box (listed in North Stonington) and Maggie's Box Too (listed in Voluntown).
