This letterbox is located on a nice hike in the Bighorn Mountains above Dayton, WY. The hike is around 5 miles roundtrip and isn't difficult; it is, however, at a relatively high elevation.

To get to the trail take Alt. 14 west from Burgess Junction. Turn right onto Forest Road 14. Follow it for 3 miles, bearing left at the junction with FR 11 to stay on FR 14. Follow FR 14 another 8 miles to reach the Bucking Mule Falls Trailhead. There are assorted signs along the route to lead you to the trailhead.

From the trailhead, walk to the falls overlook (there are actually two ways to get to the falls from the parking lot: the official trail and a "closed" road near the outhouse that will eventually take you to the overlook. Both are around 5-5.5 miles roundtrip). The falls overlook is clearly marked by a sign attached to a tree. Just before the overlook you will see a wood post fence on either side of the trail. From the right edge of the right section of fence take 17 steps due north. This will take you to a busted-up gnarly tree. On the north side of the first stump/root you come to you will find the box in a hollow walled in with rocks. Please rehide well!

Please be careful at the overlook. A wrong step could mean a fall of a thousand or more feet. When taking those 17 steps to the letterbox make sure you are headed towards solid ground and not empty space!

I carved the stamp at the overlook. Can you find where I was sitting when I did it?

P.S. I have another letterbox near Bucking Mule. Can you find it? It's possible to do both in one day!
