Tomorrow, August 22 is my 3rd AQ letterboxing birthday and I'm so excited. I couldn't wait for the fun to begin, so I decided to run out one day early and plant my 48th box to get things started. While putting the box together, I started thinking about that first boxing day three years ago.
It was a day like any other day in late August: hazy, hot and humid. The perfect day for a walk in the woods. Armed with my new boxing gear, I slowly but excitedly made my way down the trail in my official newbie boxer outfit: shorts and new sneakers. With clues in hand, I scoured the trail enduring many of the percs of boxing: flesh-tearing thickets, mud holes as big as your car and squadrons of bird-sized mosquites. Determined not to return home without my prize, I pushed on looking for any hint of the coveted Tupperware. After what seemed like an eternity, I saw what I had come for "the prize of all prizes: my first Letterbox" sticking up out of a pile of rubble. I opened the box, like a kid on Christmas morning, and to my surprise, it was the bonus box. The main box was nowhere to be found. I didn't care. I had my "first find" and that was all that mattered. As I looked at my bleeding legs and numerous bites, I slogged back to my car, confident that I had risen to the challenge, I was a "Letterboxer"!
Tomorrow, I'll be celebrating a mile stone, 3 years of boxing with clues from the greatest boxing site in the world: "AQ". I never realized on that first day, I'd still be having so much fun!

To wish me Happy Birthday: Make your way to Sholan Farms. Find the community gardens across the street from the gazebo and farm stand. Follow the road down behind the old barn remains and park at the yellow and green structure. Walk through the gardens to the hedge row. Turn right and go down past the apple trees. Enter the path ahead. From the trail head, count 4 yellow blazes. Look for the "2 holer" on your left. At the base of the 4th yellow blaze, look in the mouse hole. If you find it, you'll take the cake (sorry, the ice cream melted)!

Thanks for three fun-filled years!!
