Resting in Peace #9==Bloody Mary
Rated: Easy
Bull’s Cemetery

BOX 1--BLOODY MARY--URBAN LEGEND--In Jackson, Michigan, a long time ago, a little girl named Mary was in some type of accident and slipped into a coma. Doctors back then, not knowing about comas, thought Mary was dead. But---she was buried alive! Her grieving mother thought she heard screams in the middle of the night. After several weeks, Mary’s mother finally convinced them to dig up Mary’s grave. It was then that they found scratches on the inside of the coffin and blood covering Mary’s fingernails and dress.

BOX 2--BLOODY MARY--FOLKLORE--Bloody Mary is a ghost or witch featured in folklore. She is said to appear in a bathroom MIRROR, when someone holding a lit CANDLE in darkness, calls or chants her name 3 or more times while turning around. [This ‘game’ is often played at slumber parties!]. When a BELL rings, Mary would then… either kill you with a knife, chase you down the stairs, haunt you forever or reveal the future of your marriage such as you seeing the image of your future husband in the mirror and/or the number of children you will have.

BOX 3--BLOODY MARY--STORIES--Some say Mary was buried alive and rang a BELL that was attached to a string and then tied to her wrist in case she awoke…but no one heard her! As the night became colder, her grieving mother was told to go inside so as not to get a chill. The Bell was found knocked over in the morning. Mary’s mother did not believe that the wind or an animal knocked the bell over and eventually convinced them to dig up Mary’s grave. It was then that they realized Mary was buried alive.

BOX 4--BLOODY MARY--MYTHS--One belief has Mary Worth described as a wrongly accused child murderer living in the town where the legend had taken roots a very long time ago. Other STORIES say her child was stolen and she went ‘mad’ with grief and eventually committed suicide. But, most believe that she was buried alive after slipping into a coma.
