Yes, the mix tape. Able to melt and mend hearts. A tribute. Be sure to listen to a mix tape (or CD) on the drive to the Des Moines Art Center at 4700 Grand Ave. Park in the shade and from the parking lot go around the building to the left following signs to the rose garden.

Once around back head towards the Andy Goldsworthy sculpture and take a few moments to admire this giant stone art work. You can even climb inside.

Follow the rose garden sidewalk away from the Art Center enjoying hundreds of thorny beauties. At the end you will see a rose variety called “Amy Grant.” Weird, huh?

After the rose garden, the sidewalk will end and a bench is near if you’d like to enjoy the view and feel the natural AC coming up the hillside.

You’ll need to head down the hill and go right when you come to large rocks. At water’s edge, find the half shelter building. Weird, huh?

Walk past it and find the small maintenance building at the edge of the woods. The path is just to the left of that building.

After you have entered the woods, go until you cross two cricks, not more than a eighth of a mile if you stay on the main path going left if the path splits. Just after the second crick bushwhack up and to the right for about 10 yards. Find a tree with its top broken off and its hidden next to this.

After you have found it, stamped, and rehidden better than you found it, walk back on the trail a bit and make sure it can’t be seen.

SPECIAL COMPONENT: Box has room in it if you would like to leave a cassette tape, take a cassette tape, or both.

Update: Mix tape is missing so if you leave one you won't get one in return, however, mixed cds have been know to accompany the box.

Warning: Previous finders have complained of skeeters and poison ivy. Box at your own risk.
