There is a place in our fair city that honors and memorializes our local War Veterans.

Find the Park that is named for “Wilbur Clarence Daniel.” As you enter, drive carefully and watch for wild life which is plentiful in this area. As you drive down the winding road, depending on the time of year, you may want to duck that foul ball.

Park in the lot to your left, near the Memorial. Take a walk and find my grandfather’s brick. Locate the 19th letter of the alphabet. From that letter, count (right) to the 6th row of names and (back) 2 bricks. Army WWI – No, he was not a SEAMSTRESS.

After touring the Memorial, SALUTE THE FLAG and exit on the side nearest Picnic Shelter #15. Turn right and follow the wrought iron fence to the last brick column. Turn right again and follow the black chain link fence until you stand directly behind the Virginia State Flag. With your back to the flag, walk 23 steps up a small hill and into the woods where X marks the spot. As always, watch for snakes and insects.

Please be discreet when searching for the box. Depending on the time of day and/or the time of year the park could be very crowded. Just a few yards to the left, of where you find the box, is a picnic area in the woods. This would be a good place to do your stamping without being seen.

Also please be sure to repackage the box and supplies in a manner to protect them from the elements, place it back in its original hiding place and cover with leaves and twigs.
FREEDOM IS NOT FREE so don’t forget to “TANK” A VETERAN.
May GOD Bless You and May GOD Bless America!

You may want to bring a picnic, walking shoes and or bicycle. Oh, and don’t forget your sunscreen.
