This is mine and my sister's first letterbox and it is in honor of all the great times we've had together. "Woohoo" and "FunYeah" are sort of a call and response thing that she and I do; I'll say, "Woohoo" and she responds with, "FunYeah." This little quirk came about when she and I were on a very long car trip and we became quite giddy. As we drove we saw a chain of signs that lead to a church; first sign, "Come and join us" then, "Sunday 10AM," next "Woohoo", and finally a sign that read, "FunYeah.".....we made fun and laughed at those signs the rest of the way home.
So to get to Woohoo and FunYeah, if you're coming from I-75, get off at exit 399 (Alachua/High Springs) and take a left at the light. (it's the same whether you're coming from the north or south)
On your left you'll see a Sonny's BBQ; turn into Sonny's. Directly to your right you will see a small dirt road (looks like extra parking space). Go all the way back and park.
You should see a narrow trail to your right; follow the trail until you come to a Y.
For the first box take a right at the Y. Continue to follow the trail until you come to a green box; take a right toward the stairs.
Go down the stairs until you reach a long platform (if you reach the ramp that leads down to the water, you've gone too far). Stand in between the parallel trees; step down onto the lower platform and look for the hidden stair. WOOHOO! Take a few minutes to explore and enjoy a sight that few locals even know exists. "Alachua" is actually an Indian name for "big sink hole".
For the second box return to the Y and take a right (the other trail that doesn't lead you back to your car). Walk until you come to another Y and take a left.
Place yourself between the large Y shaped tree and a the trees that form an A (note: you'll have to look up to see the A shape).
From there, take 3 steps, turn around, look down; FUNYEAH!!!
The box should be under a root and covered with sticks and stuff. Please make sure to cover back up when done.
If you continue to follow the trails you'll get to see a beautiful swamp area with lots of room to explore. Enjoy!
