This box is in John Bryon State Park just West of Dayton Ohio.

My stamp has been replaced by a store bought stamp for some reason. I have had an offer to get this replaced and the replacement carving has been mailed. (8-06)

The short hill that is to the side of the trail (that needs to be clibmed to get the box) is kinda steep and will be muddy after rain. The trail to the box is not stroller friendly, but older kids should enjoy seeking this box.

DON'T FORGET YOUR CAMERA! This park is georgeous! It has lots of rock formations, great trails, several waterfalls and two bridges across the Miami Whitewater River. Also check out the redescovery frogs series by Flyfisher.

Begin at the Orton Picnic Area sign. A map of the park may be available at this sign. The trail you need is at 210 degrees from this sign across a mowed area of the park. Go down the trail. It merges with the Rim trail and you go first right, then left from the Rim Trail to continue down the hill to a footbridge across the Little Miami River. "Ribbit"

Continue on the trail along the river on a heading of 180 degrees at the beginning, but turning more and more to the west. From here, you'll probably want to go for the frog, but keep an eye on the hill to your left.
You are looking for a spot that looks like it could have been used by indians to hide out from storms. After you get the frog (so you don't mis count the paces), come back to this spot and climb the wide path up the hill to the 'cave'.
I don't suggest getting under the cave though, because the rock that is in front of the opening and the one that prevents you from going around the back side on the left, FELL from the above ledge! Who knows when the next huge chunk will fall.
So instead, at the top of the hill, take the path to the left along the base of the cliff. See the sharp angle (outside corner) of the cliff that sticks out ahead of you? What you seek is nestled directly under this point. It's under the small pile if rocks that is on the back/side of a larger rock in a camo covered pill bottle-read on-.
Once you stamp in discretely and re-hide the container from view, you can see another cool spot by going down the path that creates a 'short cut' to the main path in the direction you want to go. It's about half way down that part of the hill along the 'short cut path'. I wonder how they got the pipe under the rock cliff? At the base of the hill at the main trail, the water creates a beautiful waterfall

Enjoy this great park!
Let me know if you find the Indian Resting Place safe and sound or if it needs work, or if you couldn't find it.
