CLUES:

This is a 12-stamp series dedicated to family memories and family businesses. (Both of these need to be cherished and preserved, in my opinion.) We salute our favorite hot dog stands, located all the way from Stratford to Naugatuck, CT.
These are "quickie" boxes: located in high traffic areas, no pads, no ink. Each of the 12 bites from the footlong hot dog is numbered and contained in a pouch made from red and white checkered tablecloth. Please be quick to collect the stamp, and thorough in hiding it again. We hope that you will have the time to enjoy the specialities of each location. For many summers, our family certainly has.

TENTH BITE LETTERBOX
Nonnie's Deli

Located on Rt 63 South in Bethany, CT. Take Rt8 North to Exit 25 (Cross St.), take a right at the bottom of the exit ramp. Straight through the stop sign. Take a right at the traffic light onto Rt 63S. For about two miles you will climb from Naugatuck into Bethany. Continue past the junction with Rt42. At the crest of the hill, on your left, you will see the Bethany Veterinary Hospital and Country Corners Diner. Nonnie's is next on the left. Park in front.

I knew that this would probably happen: before we finished the series, one of the family businesses would fold. Nonnie's previous owners have sold the Deli, and taken with them all of the vintage toys which used to decorate the restaurant. All that is left are the tunnels for the model train up in the corners near the ceiling. The new owners have also discontinued the grill items, hot dogs included! But I wish the new owners success. And they still do offer interesting sandwiches with chicken cutlets and jalapeno peppers. And they also still offer Billy's wonderful ice cream! Skip had a very generous medium cup of Peanut Butter Fudge. Bill: $4.25

CLUE: Standing in the front parking lot, looking across RT63, you will see the Bethany Volunteer Firefighters Headquarters. There is a stone wall alongside of the driveway. Walk 7 steps (1 step = 2 feet) along the side of the wall that faces the Headquarters Bldg. Look in the wall to find the checkered pouch and the Tenth Bite Letterbox.
