White's Ferry links Virgina and Maryland
along a senic part of the Potomac so grand.

It is the only remaining ferry along the river
just image all the people it has been able to safely deliver.

In Summer you can rent a boat or picnic on shore,
or hike/bike the C&O canal and visit the country store.

Up from Leesburg across the water you must navigate
or down from Poolsville 6 miles to find what awaits.

Once parked by the road an old iron bridge is in sight
Facing away from the ferry its back up the road on the right.

Across the road from the bridge is a ruined warehouse of stone
There's not much left, just some walls standing alone.

There you must go to continue the search
cross the towpath and canal bed to the stoney perch.

The walls are parallel and you must go between to enter.
walk on the grass toward a narrow concrete path in the center.

In the wall toward the canal is a gap like a door
be careful, because down hill there is no floor.

From the exact left side of the door frame face up hill.
The treasure is near, you might feel a thrill.

Stride straight to the low wall toward the road -- bearing 110 degrees
observe a chip in the front edge of the cement cap near your knee

In the top row of stones just under the nicked cement top
and above a large red block is the hiding place -- so stop.

Squat down and carefully remove just one brick-sized rock
and behind it you should find the hidden letterbox.

Stamp discreetly and replace the box and stone
we hope you are able to explore more before heading home.
