Ledge View Letterbox Series Clues

From the Nature Center, follow the trail in between signs, to the left of the building. Follow trail and head straight into the woods, where you’ll be passing marker #3 on your left. Turn onto the “Fun Trail” for extra fun. After you’ve explored, return to the main trail, taking a right and continue on it. Bear right at the Gib Hipke chair. Stay on the main trail and soon you’ll see the “Wilberscheid Quarry Trail” sign. From this point, take 20 paces toward the Quarry. Find the closest twin of a tree of three, on the right side of the trail, and your treasure will be inside. Please rehide well!

Keep walking down the trail and bear right at the Y. When you get to the overlook, look at the ancient coral reef and enjoy the view of the Niagara Escarpment. Turn around, bear right at the bench and take the path less travelled. Bear right again. At the T, turn right and explore the quarry or go left to continue to Box #2. Following the main path, turn left at the “Wilberscheid Quarry Trail” sign and continue your hike through the forest. Bear left (not taking the “Oak Spur Trail”) and continue on your way, out of the woods and into the prairie, skip and dance and fly like a fairy. At the “Edge Trail” sign, turn 90° counter clockwise and pretend you’re a mountain goat. Follow the trail leading down, down, down. At the bottom of the rocks on the trail, walk 20 paces and look left. See the end of a log. Look right and notice a cave where a little gnome might call home. That’s where Box #2 used to be located, but we have recently changed things up, so your quest continues.

Onward Ho…continue along the trail. Head left and downhill onto the “Forest Loop” trail and you’ll be on your way to Box #2. Keep your eyes peeled for sign #39 (it’s a little carved up). Match the sunny-colored shape on the sign to two large, moss-covered boulders of the same shape (be a bit imaginative here) that sit off the trail and to the right. Your treasure is hidden beneath some whitish rocks (less moss-covered) in the crevasse wall.

You’ve found two boxes, now on to the third! Continue along the trail and stop at sign #33. Turn 90⁰ clockwise and go traipsing off the path. Heading towards the big boulders, you’ll need to take a roundabout route, and walk at least 60 paces from the trail. Look for signs of humans and carefully wind your way around twisted “modern art.” In front of the fattest tree around, look for a 6” diameter pipe with its mouth wide open, sitting in the ground. Your treasure is near.

Congratulations, you’ve found all three boxes! But you still need to find your way back to your car. Return to the trail and continue going forward. At the Y, go left into sunshine. Put your lungs to work and head uphill, staying straight on the path. Catch your breath at a bench and push on, following signs that lead to the Nature Center. Climb the tower and enjoy the gorgeous view of the rolling farmland around you. Back on the main trail, walk on and bear left at the Y for a quick hike back to the parking lot, or continue straight for a look around the meadow. We hope you’ve enjoyed getting to know Ledge View!
