Rolling Stone Covered Bridge is located between the towns of Bainbridge and Roachdale. Travel west on US Hwy 36 to Bainbridge. At the stoplight in town turn right and travel 2 miles, turn right onto 800 N. this will take you to the bridge. This is a very curvy road, so be careful as you travel down into the Big Walnut Creek valley. Once you arrive at the covered bridge, travel through the bridge to the other side and park on either side of the road. There are many paths on either side of the bridge to view the creek and the bridge at different angles...bring your camera!

Rolling Stone Covered Bridge received its name from a large boulder near the base of the bridge that would actually roll around by the action of Big Walnut Creek flowing below. Considered a hazard to the bridge, the stone was broken up using dynamite, and is now possibly dispersed throughout the creek.

Once you have enjoyed viewing the bridge, walk from where you parked, through the bridge to the other side. Watch for vehicles as you cross through the bridge. Once on the other side, turn around and face the bridge. You will notice stones piled on either side of the bridge abutment...could these be part of the original rolling stone? Look over the bridge abutment on your right and the stones piled along it. Find the moss covered stone amongst the others, here you will find your prize.

Beware of muggles! Especially if letterboxing during the month of October. Lots of visitors enjoying the covered bridges and fall foliage of Putnam County.

Please hide the letterbox as you found it or better!

Happy Hunting!
