Northwest Park is located at 145 Lang Rd in Windsor. Please bring black ink with you.

Head into the park passing a sign that says “field use by permit only” and then go over a green bridge by a pond. Go straight passing the nature center on your right. If you want to detour to get a trail map, there are some in front of the Nature center.

Going into the field, pass by birdhouse 13. Slightly left of the birdhouse is a trail with no markings. There are broken red bricks lining the first part of this trail.

You’ll come to a sign. Go straight Continue on through a small grassy field and come to a short bit of trees that will open up to a much larger field. Go right and continue around the perimeter of the field until you come to Pond Trail with blue blazes.

Continue on the Pond trail until you come to a blue blazed post just before the trail heads down hill. You should see the pond on your left. Look right to a 2 sister oak tree. Look among the stick mess behind the oak for a flutterby.

Continue on the blue trail down the hill. When you get to the bottom, turn right towards the Nature center. Go uphill for awhile, and keep on the lookout for a yellow blazed trail. Take a left onto the trail. You will come to a yellow blazed tree that is hugging another tree over the trail. After you go under these trees look right to a tree with a showy display of roots. Behind the tree is a Sunburst Rice Paper butterfly.

Back on the yellow trail, continue on. Notice an impressive 2 sister oak on the left. Nice, right? Now you will pass a huge boulder on the right. Keep going and walk with the reservoir on your left for a long while. You will come to a part of the trail where its very wavy on the left. Look for a tree on your right that says 14, then two wooden fences on your left- the second wooden fence has fallen over. Walk ten paces from the fence and look left to a tree with a rock between its roots. Look behind the trap door to find a Pink Glasswing.

Keep on the yellow trail till you come to a crossroads with a sign. Go right on the yellow/ Wetland Forest Trail. At the next crossroads, stay right on yellow. Go over a few boardwalks with the last one having a broken twin on the right. Keep going until you pass a stump called 5. Go 50 steps to a yellow blazed tree and look left to a twisty swirly beech tree with a huge fallen branch. Look in the end of the branch for Flying Handkerchief.

Keep going on the trail passing a major intersection and keeping on yellow. When you come to a T intersection, go left and then turn right passing a gazebo on your left. Take your next left keeping that gazebo on your left. You will see a red barn up ahead. Go straight in between the two red barns up ahead and head back to your car.
