HISTORY ON THE KENNEBEC

Drive along the river in which Benedict Arnold paddled in 1775. He stopped to witness court in session. Maybe he even saw John Adams in the court house built in 1761, named after Lord Pownal.

Once you find the building, face the oldest court building in Maine. Count 6 windows going S.W. from the main door. Walk past the garden to find the stocks. Continue S.W. on an old dirt road past the stone wall, which is on your left, to the place of peace.

Enter through the iron gates. In the first row lie Samuel and Sarah Johnson. Facing the stone, look left, halfway between two big trees, near the ground, in the stone wall is your treasure
