Walk difficulty: fairly easy – a sandy and rocky trail with a gradual up section.
Walking distance: about 0.2 mile one way
Stamp hand-carved
Status: alive and well on March 22, 2016

From U. S. Highway 191 about 31 miles north of Monticello, turn west on State Highway 211. Drive to mile marker 3 and continue past it for about 0.4 mile. Turn right into a paved parking lot.

Go to the north corner of the lot and start walking on the Donnelly Canyon Climbing Access Trail (old wooden sign with no trail name on it). You will soon go down into and out of a gully and then arrive at a T-intersection (heavy brush makes it difficult to see). Turn right and walk on the trail that goes fairly straight up the canyon. At the first junction continue straight. At the second junction turn to the left going gradually up slope over a series of rock steps. The trail will then arrive at a very large flat-faced boulder where it will turn to the right. The trail will then go between two Juniper Trees. After going between the trees, continue on the trail for about 12 steps to a sharp left turn. From this turn, go at about 68 degrees (from mag. north) for about 10 steps to a triangular-shaped large rock leaning against an outcrop of slanting rocks. The box is behind this leaning rock under a flat rock. Please use an existing social trail a few steps to the right to get to the hiding place to help preserve the natural soil surface. Also, use the same existing trail to get back to the main trail.

Please please be sure the contents are double ziplocked when you put them back in the box (i.e. the stamp is in a ziploc, the book is in a ziploc, and the two are in the larger ziploc bag), and put all of it INSIDE the box. Please rehide the box well under the rocks and cover with plant debris so that it can not be seen from any direction.

I will not be able to check on this box very often; so, please let me know if you find it, or if it needs attention or is missing:
