From the center of Granby, CT take Rt. 189 North approximately 4 miles to the yellow flashing light in North Granby. At this light turn left unto Mountain Road. Proceed approximately 2 miles up Mountain Road. Turn right on Donahue Road. In approximately .5 mile you will see the entrance to the Godard Preserve on your right. Parking for one or two cars. No hunting allowed. Nothing about dogs. One mile round trip. Ampoo likes purple or red ink but there's none in the box.

The Ampoo is intensely neat;
It's head is small, likewise it's feet.

Enter the preserve and stop at the information stand to get a trail map (none there today). Starting on the blue trail proceed into the woods, down hill and cross the stream on a nice new bridge. Immediately after crossing the stream bear left on the blue trail until you see a double blazed tree. Go right here (and right again when the trail goes both ways) and keep following the blue blazes, coming to another stream crossing on a double log bridge (rotting away). The blue trail follows the stream and heads down an embankment. The next stream crossing is on a single log bridge and then you'll come to the junction with the yellow trail. The blue and yellow merge at this point but you need to go right onto just yellow. After a few minutes watch on the left for some beech trees with no carvings on them (tis a wonder to behold) and an old hunter's blind dangling from above. Just before these trees (also on the left) look for a funky two sister (used to be three?) birch and look in the roots in back. This box is only covered with leaves.
