11/19/10 - an article in today's paper reports that cars parking by the cemetery or trailhead are getting ticketed. Apparently the closest parking is at Session Woods.

Park by Lamson Cemetery at the intersection of Rt 69 and Scoville Rd. Facing the cemetery, there is a trail along the right side. The trail has blue blazes with a red dot. This is the trail you want. Round trip to the boxes will be at least 2 miles. I've seen estimates of the distance from here to Devil's Kitchen of 1 mile and 2.4 miles. I think it's somewhere in between.

Go straight for a few minutes, then downhill, straight, slight curve to left, down again a bit and up, pass a "road" on the right, eventually level off, paths on either side, stay on blue/red dot. The trail will alternate stones and sand underfoot. Don't turn an ankle.
Continue - down again, about 1/3 of the way down there will be 2 big rocks on the right. Look on the south side of the downhill big rock to see What's For Dinner? (This was about 25 minutes in for us.)

Continue down the hill. It bottoms out where the just blue (now blue/yellow) trail crosses. Stay on blue/red dot.
Cross bridge, pass wall, down, up, curve right slightly, stone wall on both sides, very big tire tracks, over log road, look for big white birch on side of trail to left. Behind this is a 2 sisters birch, then remnants of a stone wall. Cross over this to a fallen tree. Is that a Dinner Guest? hiding in the lower level of the near end? (This was about 50 minutes in for us.)

Continue on to the Devil's Kitchen and Nassahegan State Forest or head back to your car. One of these days when we have more time we may complete the dinner menu.

Enjoy and make sure you rehide everything well.
