*** Part of immigrants of Texas Series ****

The first sizable population of Nelsonville came in the late 1860's and early 1870's via Bohemian settlers, though the town was founded in the 1850s and named vor D.D. Nelson. Its highest population was 150 around 1900, but declined due to the depression and development of Bellville. The first czech immigrants in Texas were found here, and many are buried in Susen Cemetery where you will find this box.

Directions:
From Hwy 159, turn at sign for Susan Cemetery in the town on Skalak rd. Go left at "T" junction, then right at arch for the cemetery and park by the gate.

To the Letterbox:
Enter through the gate and walk to the far back right corner. Find the Miller plot. To left of it and around the back side of the large Crepe Mertle clump. With fence to your back (near where tree grows through it) look in the middle of the crepe mertle trees on ground, covered with sticks.
