Difficulty: Easy
Distance to Letterbox: 10 yards
**** Part of the Emigrants of Texas Series ******
This box commemorates the First Methodist and Protestant college in Texas, which was founded in 1840. The box is hidden in Rutersville Cemetery, but if you go down the road about a mile you will come to the old grounds of the college and its cemetery (probably should have hidden box here, so if someone wants to move it there please do so and send me the clues to change). The college's first president was Reverend Chauncy Richardson, who was buried near the college. Rutersville was founded on the La Bahia Rd as one of the Texas Republic's first towns, and planned for the Methodist college. It was named for Rev Martin Ruter who came up with the college idea.
Directions:
In Rutersville, turn east on Old College Road, and turn left into first enterance to Rutersville Cemetery and park near tall pole and tombstone for "Hartfield".
To the Letterbox:
Walk to the back side of the big bush, just behind stone for "Kraatz". With your back to that stone, crawl under the bush to the base of the bush. Box is in the middle of base of that bush.
