This letterbox is a likeness of one of the most mysterious legends from Connecticut folklore. Although the hike actually starts in Plymouth, the box location is in Burlington, so we listed it as such. The hike from the trail head to the box is 1.6 miles round trip. Black ink is all you need.

From Rte. 4 in Burlington, head towards Harwinton and turn left onto Rte. 72. Turn left onto Preston Rd and then left onto E. Plymouth Rd. Look for the metal gate about .5 mile on the right with parking right after the gate. Please don't block the gate.

Start out on blue white dot which quickly turns to blue. Head straight ahead on blue. At the intersection( there is a trail sign here), take the blue yellow dot trail to the left. Follow this trail for a short way until you see a large rock ledge on the left. This is the home of Tory Den. http://www.skyweb.net/~channy/Toryden.html Make your way to the back entrance to the den. Facing the entrance, look right past a small sister tree to a stack of flat mossy rocks. What you seek is hiding here in a little cave covered by some loose rocks. Please take the box away from the den to stamp in and be aware of who is nearby when rehiding. This area can get busy. Please rehide well and keep us informed on how the box is doing. Happy hiking!!
