DIRECTIONS: This letterbox is located about 77 miles West of Portland and about 33 miles East of Astoria. From Portland, take I-5 North to the Longview/Kelso exit. Follow signs for Oregon and the Lewis and Clark Bridge. Go over the bridge and take a right on Hwy 30 going toward Clatskanie. Continue past Clatskanie and beyond. Look for a sign on the right-hand side for Gnat Creek Campground. Turn right at the campground. Park at the trailhead which is just after the turn on the right-hand side. There are pull-outs on both sides of the road.

DIFFICULTY: The hike to the letterbox is probably a mile long, two, round-trip. Terrain is average. Clues are not too tough. This is a mini box so there is no pen enclosed.

CLUES: Go up stairs and on up the trail. After a while you will cross a wooden bridge. Keep going. Cross a second bridge. Continue hiking. When you get to a third, smaller bridge, stop before crossing. About face. The stump in front of you hides the Gnat Creek Letterbox on the other side where large chunks of wood protect it.

Best regards,
