Apple River Canyon State Park is one of my favorite parks in the state. It is a true gem in northern Illinois. The park sees very few visitors (unless its Memorial Day weekend or Labor Day weekend). Please check out my other box in the park Mountain Dew Series :: Apple River Canyon.
The Clues
Start at the Tower Rock/River Route trail head. When you reach the T intersection go right. You will come upon a viewing platform. Take your time to find the bass clef that was carved by a park visitor years ago. Once you have found the clef count two posts to your right. Your bass clef is on the ground just to the right of the second post. You might be able to reach the box from the platform or you can walk around to it. If you get off the platform to reach the box please be careful you are very close to the edge of the cliff.
