This letterbox was designed and placed with a friend while vacationing in Hawaii. It's a great opportunity to see a few Sea Turtles "Honu" near Kona.

First, you will need to drive up the coast on Hwy 19 to the Mauna Lani Resort. Once there, park your car and walk into the hotel like you are a guest (great if you are, we weren't - btw we have NOT received permission for placement, so be stealthy when retrieving the LB). Make your way to the pool area and out to the Mauna Lani beach, most likely where you will see all the chairs and people hanging out. Feel free to hang out, swim, check out the gardens, etc. it's really pretty - again "pretend" like you are a guest. To the left of the beach is a path, follow it towards the ocean. While on the path you will come to a bridge, check out the eels swimming below however "they do bite" so continue on the path after watching them in the water. At the little beach on the right, check out the "Honu" turtles!!!! They are awfully cool, and may be seen on the rocks further out if they aren't sunning on the beach. Now that you have seen the turtles, it's time to find your letterbox! Walk on the path to the palm frond thatched outrigger hut. Take the sandy path or beach to the green house (you'll see some grass that is far better than my lawn will ever hope to be), stay on the path until you see a "Proceed at your own Risk" sign. Walk down the path to the little rock hut on it's own island. Walk through the entryway of the hut and go to the window (left), turn around, up above on the left hand side of the opposite window ledge is the treasure you hope to find! Enjoy your vacation! Aloha! PS - Please send me an email to let me know you found the box, as I can't check on it regularly. Mahalo!
