Located in Edinboro, once a resort community, the school was established in 1857 as Edinboro Academy. In 1861, it became the Edinboro Normal School…second oldest normal school in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the first west of the Appalachian Mountains.
In 1926, the state recognized Edinboro State Teachers College as a four year college and the name was changed in 1960 to Edinboro State College.
After 125 years of service, in 1983, the college became Edinboro University of Pennsylvania.
EUP’s main campus is situated on 585 acres and includes a five acre lake and over forty-three buildings. Off campus locations are in Erie and Meadville.
Please note: Although a generally friendly campus, BEWARE when parking. There is no ticketing on Saturday or Sunday and no ticketing after 6:00 p.m. during Spring and Fall semesters. No ticketing during the summer.
