Tucson has a rich western history that has been celebrated every February since 1925. This Celebration of the Cowboys “La Fiesta de los Vaqueros” and features the largest non-motorized parade in the country and two weeks of rodeo competition. In fact the school children in southern Arizona enjoy Rodeo Days. Two days that schools are closed so that the children and their families can participate in these festivities.

The parade features dozens and dozens of buggies, wagons, and horseback riders.

In the Tucson Rodeo Parade Museum you can see 150 historic vehicles from buggies to stage coaches and surries to paddy wagons. The Tucson Rodeo Parade Museum is typically open January thru mid April of each year., Be sure to check the website for a current schedule. www.tucsonrodeoparade.org/pages001/muesu.htm

To the box: Head to 4625 S. 3rd Ave. Enter the parking lot on the south end. You will see a mesquite tree to the south of the parking lot entrance. Look on the eastside of the tree for a SPOR. Watch out for the teddy bear cacti or you will need tweezers and tape to remove the pesky cacti spines.
