One year ago today, on a blustery Sunday afternoon, I parked at a friendly package store and set out on my first letterboxing adventure with my daughter and grand daughter. Little did I know what I was getting myself into!
To find A Friendly Letterbox:
From the intersection of Rte. 12 and Rte. 6 in Danielson, CT, head south on Rte. 12. Watch for an amiable package store on the left, and make a right there toward the Quinebaug River Trail Boat Lauch and the Killlingly Little League complex. Park back by the baseball fields, and walk between 2 baseball fields, following the arrow for the Canoe Launch. At the paved trail, make a left. Walk past the Canoe Launch, and pass Cady St. on the left. (Ignore the graffiti on the building at the end of Cady St.; so far nothing THAT bad has happened on the trail.) The trail curves a bit, and on the right pass by a cleared area. Approaching a bridge, notice 2 large trees on the left, before a curvy road sign. The letterbox is behind the first of these trees, under some rocks.
Please DO NOT put baggies on the outside of the boxes!!
Please rehide carefully; this is a popular trail. There is no ink in the box, black would be fine.
Return to you car the way you came.
